TemTem is shit and got all the wrong ideas from Pokemon in an attempt to fleece their user base
Nexomon's a nice effort, especially because of its low price but it's still not quite there

I miss the days Yokai Watch almost killed Pokemon in Japan(which influenced Gen VII to be a Yokai Watch rip-off).
Probably the closest we will ever get.

At best they can carve out a niche fanbase from disillusioned adult fans but even that's a tall order because people are tired of Pokemon for differing reasons.
The only time we've really had a true Pokemon competitor was with Yokai Watch, and that's because they honed so much in on JPN tastes that it alienated the rest of the world
