Are they at least fucking difficult? As in, more difficult than "spam A to kill everyone in 1-hit" like ASOR?

And is the DLC worth it?

The gym leaders are all pretty easy. Raihan at least switches things up a bit and uses double battles. Champion Leon has some pretty fast Pokemon on his team and his Charizard has coverage for just about threat to Charizard. The "evil teams" are basically a joke, one is all dark types and the other is all steel types except Oleana.

Max raid battles and the Max lair can be challenging depending on who your teammates are and what level your own Pokemon is at in max raids. Battle Tower is super easy. Restricted Sparring on Isle of Armor is made more challenging by limiting heals between matches and only allowing you to use a mono-type team for it.

They aren't quite as bad as /vp/ makes them out to be. Main story is a travesty but difficulty-wise I found it fairly average. Harder than ORAS and XY but easy compared to Emerald.

No you can’t kill everything in one hit but it’s very easy to be over prepared, raids give candies that were clearly meant to be an end game grinding solution. Some battles are incredibly underwhelming but overall I would say it’s easier than USUM and gen 4, questionably as easy as XY, ORAS and SM. The DLC poses a challenge in Mustard and Honey’s teams provided you aren’t using +10 levels on them. Leon is decent if you don’t look his team up.
Dynamax adventures is a lot of fun

As long as you don't abuse candies it's gard to accidentally be overleveled. They're more difficult than XY/ORAS at least because the gym leaders also dynamax. Starting around the 3rd gym I usually had the gym leaders get 1-3 KOs on my team.
The DLC works best with a fresh save. IoA is a fun sidequest with decent rewards, abd CT gives SwSh a much better post-game. I would say it's worth it, especially if you can get the main game or dlc on sale.

The champion is actually fairly challenging. The problem with the game is that the region is empty, there's nothing to explore, no dungeons or mysteries or anything. The story is shit. There are barely any trainer battles at all and you will never see most of the new Pokemon unless you look them up. The version exclusives don't exist at all in the other game, no one has them. The appearance rates of some pokemon are 2% in a specific patch of grass during a specific weather in the hyrule field bullshit area and the only way to know that stuff is to look it up.

I disagree in that both DLCs have some content locked until you're champion or have completed the post-game story. Crown Tundra doesn't even level scale. It is meant to be done post-game.

The only difficult battle in the whole game is Leon at the end when they finally give him actual good Pokemon that likely outlevel yours for the 1st time in the game and also give them an actual strong movepool.

Kanto is post-game. Comparing Johto's gyms to Galar's gyms is fair because Both are at the same point in their respective games. If you really need a 2nd region to pretend Johto is good you've already proved otherwise.

not even remotely. even if you go out of your way to not get or use any level candy you still end up signifigantly stronger than every boss and rival fight, assuming you arent an autist that switches mons out mid playthrough.
the only exception is Leon, whos actually a pretty good champion. still only had 2 of my pokemon fainted though.

No, they're easy if you make use of all the tools given you. Exp. Share can't be turned off, too.

No, the amount of content doesn't justify the price tag. You're better off asking your friends to give you Glameows in HOME and trading them for the new Pokemon.
