Grass at least has an obvious role as status inflictor/health drainer (at least in older gens, now you get mons of all roles in all types).

The fact that it has access to terrain boosts, spore, leech seed, rage powder, immunity to opposing powder moves, and very useful resistances to ground and water is what justifies it.

Play the game instead of looking at type relationships.

Bug Steel, Electric Steel, Fairy Steel, Fire Steel, and Flying Steel, are far better. Hell, if anything, grass steel is one of the WORST dual steel typings next to rock.

Still four common ass weaknesses. The only viable one is Mega Venusaur which had to have an ability that negated two of its main weaknesses.

Good post. Grass mons are based. I wish they had better offensive coverage, as it generally isn't a spammable attacking type, but the type has plenty of useful things going for it.

Hopefully Venu getting Earth Power is a sign they'll distribute it more widely next gen.

Almost every dual type that has Steel or Poison is good, you retards. The only reason Ferrothorn and Kartana are good is because of their stats or movesets, not because they're grass types.
Stuff like Foretress or Magearna would be worse if their typing was Grass/Steel.

Dunno about singles, but in vgc it is not just about the numbers.
Grass has immunities to spore moves, and both spore and sleep powder are used in vgc. Grass also resists electric and itself, the two types that are super effective against water. There is a reason if the fire-water-grass core is so good in vgc.

Grass is not a good type.
Yes, there are plenty of good Grass-types, but that means the individual mons are good, not the type itself. The question isn't if there are good grass mons, because there undeniably are. The question is if the simple act of being grass-type is a good thing.
If you start bringing up mons that belong to the type, you're taking stats, abilities, and moves into account. At that point, you're not ranking the types, but the Pokemon themselves.
You can think about it like this: How many mons would be improved by adding grass as a secondary typing, or replacing one of their typings with grass? A few, yeah, but now think of how many would be improved by adding steel, fairy, or flying.

IMO they should remove Grass's weakness to Flying and maybe make Grass super effective against Electric perhaps. Also, Carnivine should get a special ability that makes it resist Bug types and makes its moves super effective against Bug types.

Also, Kartana would still have Leaf Blade since it's a sword move, but it wouldn't be weak to Fighting and so could pull off defensive sets better

But it doesn't though. Their whole point is that they are rooted in the ground. Also Flying was more of a Bird-type rather than Wind, remember Gust was Normal in Gen1.
