I hate how they designed Blastoise's 3D model

And before I get shit for hating on 3D, I just want to preface this by saying I don't mind the transition to 3D and in some cases actually prefer it.
However, with that being said, I can't pinpoint why exactly, but there's just something about Blast's 3D model that looks so weird and off. Maybe its his narrower snout? Something about its face makes it looks so dumb instead of badass or intimidating.
Maybe the 2D art just looks better because of the angles in which Blastoise was drawn. Idk, but I'm sure there's a way to make his 3D look way better.

From this angle, it looks like the cranium of the official 3D is thinner than the lower half of its head, making it look more triangular and a circle. Maybe that's also part of the reason why it looks so bad...

Blastoise is too clunky of a design to function properly, which is why it always needs to be redesigned and has a different appearance in so many different kinds of media. It just will not work without needing to be changed in small ways every time.

Blastoise is just a shit design really. Even Pokken had to awkwardly stretch its stubby proportions to make it function in that environment.

In game Blastoise looks like to would really struggle to move. Peak Blastoise is the Origin one. Looks similar to it's first art and also larger.

I mean, his design is inspired by a tortoise, it's even literally in the name. Last time I checked, tortoises are one of the slowest, least mobile animals on the planet.

He is based in but isn't that literally. All his portrayals have made about of showing his unusual dexterity. Sure Torkoal doesn't spin about but Blastoise does.

The pokedex says it can point its cannons whatever direction it wants and use the water jets to shoot around. I always assumed that blastoise's passable speed was because it just did that all the time.

Some Pokemon just did not translate to 3D very well, Blastoise being one, Typhlosion definitely being another, among others. It sucks that they took the soul out of those Pokemon

They translated fine it's just Gamefreak's bland neutral stance doesn't make everyone look appealing. If you took Typhlosion and tossed his model into a program and started posing it he'd look just fine. You can see this in the unused walk/run animation from SM where it looks fine.

Blastoise though is the one that I do think is really rough. He doesn't capture the original art well and he looks like a bloated mess that can not move. The belly section is just too fat, his canons aren't well done, his proportions are off. It's a rough piece of shit.

Body/shell is too big and too wide compared to the art. Makes the limbs and head seem small in comparison.
Also the cannons are thinner in the model than art.

No as stated it was >>45865875 The rig had to work for both mega and regular Blastoise and as a result the two are kind of a mishmash design-wise due to the arms.

It's a problem with a lot of Pokemon, they just didn't translate well to 3D. I think more dynamic idle poses like a 3/4 pose would help salvage a lot of Pokemon like Feraligatr or Rhydon who never really translated super well to 3D.

Yes and YES! They have to bring back dynamic battle poses for the 3D models, so many of them look like lifeless puppets instead of awesome fighting monsters. I think they altered Gardevoir's model on Showdown to improve it in that way.
