>>46057924>to how things are generally structured such as post-game being nothing but a monotonous grind that even Gamefreak moved away from over a decade agoFrom what I can tell, it seems like the grind is an intentional way that they try to maintain a stable economy. So, really, the biggest issue with the game is that they decided to make it an MMO when they don't have the finances or the appropriate gameplay to support one. Instead, they created a corridor style single-player game that they balanced as if it were a real MMO, resulting in every grind utilizing the same gameplay loop of "encounter monster, catch the one you want, check stats, repeat". Imagine a Pokémon game that asks players to spend tens of hours encountering, catching, and releasing hundreds of Pokémon, and it's almost entirely random encounters that they don't even give you the options to turn off animations during. Half of the time, there's no guarantee that you will even get a reward at the end of the grind since it's all RNG based, and since the grind itself is mindless, it doesn't even have the added benefit of helping you develop your skill in gameplay, so there's no forward sense of progression.
