Isn't it based on the fact that young children tend to follow things to their death like balls rolling into the street, or balloons floating away? It's really common in media but I'm not sure how often it happens in real life.

theres apparently lots of ways to go there according to many ghost pokemon’s dex entries, most recently being Gmax Gengar’s mouth. I assume they’re just too scared lol but they could always send like, a Porygon in there or something.
