Twitter is mostly positive about the new games. Even /r/Pokemon (which is another place known for bitching about the series) is cautiously optimistic, although the usual hate crowd is also vocal there.

It will be faithful but I doubt it will be 1:1. For one thing they'll have to incorporate things like the Fairy-type, the Poketch will have to be reworked since the Switch doesn't have dual screens, and I imagine QoL stuff like built-in Exp. Share and catching Exp. gain will be included.

They were shitting on it because it looked like a 3DS game both in graphics AND in content. Legends actually looks more ambitious and is clearly not just another bog standard rehash like SwSh were. It's probably too late now because Pokefags have just defaulted to being angry at everything Pokemon does now, but if this was what was shown instead of SwSh, I guarantee people would've been more lenient towards the graphics and especially dexit. The only reason those things mattered so much was because SwSh did do anything else to at least justify them.

From what I can tell the SwSh haters and BDSM haters are more-or-less the same crowd. It's pronounced here on /vp/ (which is Dexiter central) but also at /r/Pokemon (the other Dexiter central). The rest of the fanbase is just happy that they exist and are fine with it. Looking online I see more positive reception than negative.

i get it - i'm VERY cautiously optimistic myself about the remakes (especially with how disappointed i am with Gen 8) but it doesn't look like gen 8 and seems to be more polished and WAY more fluid and it's already more than i want.

What I don't get is, they're outsourcing to a company that's known for doing very well, but they still insist on holding back on the potential of the remake for the sake of "the authentic DP remake". At the very least they should have used Platinum as the baseline
