Pokémon being able to turn into energy is a property of the pokémon themselves, not caused by the poké balls. The items just make use of that handy property to trap and tame the creatures.

In the game Among Us, there are little astronauts that look like the latch keeping the Pokeball shut. They're beans with legs and a square visor. The object of the game is to identify the imposters, which are aliens/murderers whose goal is to kill everyone aboard. "Sus" means "Suspicious" as in they're claiming that the person who is sus is likely an imposter. It's also a pavlovian shorthand that people break out to display their conditioning and be accepted as part of the in crowd.
