Not as bad, but when I was a kid playing Red for the first time I used a Master Ball on the Victory Road's Moltres because I thought it was exclusive to the Red version (and Articuno exclusive to Blue, Zapdos to Yellow - I never went deep into the Islands nor visited the Power Plant). Then after I beat the Elite Four and the credits rolled I immediately started a new game, the next day a friend at school told me that I could skeep playing and Mewtwo's location.

In middle school i got really upset with one of my friends because i thought he was making fun of me for the time i ran out of pokeballs trying to catch a shiny wingull, and i picked up a chair and basically feigned attacking him with it in front of the class.
