Theres so much trash and so much overlooked mons in the dex its a miracle how kanto pandering even exists. I dont think they even like any of the new kanto megas, region forms or gmax forms, maybe they laugh about the loooooong lul xp meme ones on Facebook like Alola exeggcutor or galarian weezing but on the whole they kinda just gravitate to the same old tired stale white bread choices time and time again. And then they look at literally any other gen and cry foul saying EW pokemon is dead or ew looks like a digimon. These people never had a vested interest in the franchise, its just a lifestyle or a 90s kid badge of honor. Just something to pretend you liked for brownie points on social media. A brief novelty. They never once liked it for being a monster collecting sim. They just saw a couple normalfaggy looking Ty beanie baby IRL animals with slightly colorful colors and settled down. Its so maddening. So frustrating. Sometimes you just wish a thousand inmates would get set free from prison and infected with rabies and pour into the suburbs breaking in and dragging each of these NPC bags of flesh out into the streets and murder them.

One or two of these may apply, but very rarely do all 3 apply at once. Fairy type has Pokemon like Mr.Mime, G-Weezing, Granbull, The Tapus, Shiinotic, Zacian, Mimikyu, etc. Not all of them are cutesy bullshit, and even if that was largely the case for Gen 6 where it was new, they've done a plenty fine job of diversifying the typing since then.

My issue is that one of these at least applies to every fairy that isn't Grimmsnarl more or less. It's dumb anon. Other types don't do this except maybe fire which paints everything red/orange that isn't fucking Chandelure.

If you take issue with Fairy types being denoted by aesthetic features, then I'm sure you also take issue with the vast majority of fire types being (animal) colored orange/red with some fire on them, or water types largely being sea creatures, or Electric types being yellow with a literal thunderbolt (or at least jagged pattern) on them.

Kanto's was made from scratch while Hoenn made several clones (such as Aggron, who is admittedly pretty cool), but for some reason Unova gets all the blame for "ripping off" past designs.

It's the opposite. Fairies have so much more potential than just pink, girly, and cute. Same with unicorns but they have also been ruined by marketing to girls just like fairies have.

Just because something is cool doesn't make it bad anon. Corviknight's no more ridiculous than Staraptor and Grimmsnarl's just a fun idea that was executed well. I don't like Grimmsnarl's pre-evos but the final result is well designed; simplistic but still detailed enough to get across what it is (an Oni/Troll fairy tale monster). The fact that it's entire line are both literal and metaphorical trolls is great too (it's species literally feeds off of negative energy; they eat by pissing people off).
