Should I just play the originals or the switch version of pic related? I thought it would be a cheap little purchase on the nintendo eshop but I was horrified to discover that they are pricing it at full retail price.

Buy a used copy of Rescue team DX on ebay and save 20$ I do think rescue team DX is better than the originals.

I've seen the physical copy on eBay for around $30. You can sell it again once you're done with it.

I liked the originals better. The new one seemed way easier and holds the players hand a lot. I would play the old one for free with an emulator. That said, I was a kid when I played the originals, so maybe it's just nostalgia.

Yes. It's a great game. Why would you ever think that a Pokemon game would be a cheap purchase? I'd be surprised to find out Pokemon games even go on sale or are low priced to begin with on the eshop.
