Even worse is that Lame Freak knew that Rock/Steel was a shit typing and fixed it with it Mega (and even gave it filter). Then they took megas away and now Aggron is useless forever.

Mega Aggron was just as useless as base Aggron. Wow hes so tanky dooood all he can do is swap pokes around and vomit stealth rocks, a whole fucking shitload of fucking good a pure mono Steel typing will do combat wise

Gimmickmons with unique abilities always feel like they could make for good bosses in an ATB/Action Adventure game. Stuff like Zoroark with illusion, Slaking, Golisopod and Archeops with their self-detrimental abilities, Minior, Castform or Mimikyu would make for great zelda-like boss fights with phases and weak spots

Onix was pretty much conceived as an early-game boss enemy and for what is worth it was pretty well portrayed in anime for its role.

Not gonna lie, i would love comeback of this kind of writing. Where Ash was genuinely weak trainer but had some small sparks of brilliance to even out fights.

A pure steel typing could’ve been fantastic if he had more health or more special defense. Mega Aggron alone isn’t that bad either, the main problem is that you’re sacrificing a mega that merely fixes an otherwise bad Pokémon rather than making him OP. There’s just no reason to pick him over other megas

Onix was shafted in the stats department as everyone complains about already. It just truly is a shame because he’s such a cool mon. Being relatively fast despite his typing and size was a unique idea too it just wasn’t enough.
