Gen 5 definitely had a high number of low-effort mons but I think the highest ratio is Gen2

Even though it was revolutionary at the time, by modern Pokemon standards Gen I was chock-full of low effort designs. I don't think Game Freak had a good workflow hashed out for making quality designs until Gen III.

I never understood this fucking take. Yes, some of the gen I designs are trash comparative to what came after, but it was the first fucking gen. It was the trailblazer for the entire god damn franchise. Of course there are going to be some that are comparatively lackluster, especially when the entire franchise was shaping its identity and thus developing its art-style, mechanics, lore, etc. Calling gen 1 lazy is such a fucking retarded take it's actually fucking absurd.
