Do you guys know about this XP farming spot in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald? I am playing Emerald for the first time and found a great spot for XP. Numels spawn 75% of the time here, so with a water-type you can 1-shot them, and they give above-average XP. My mons suck vs the Normal gym so I'm leveling a fighter with XP Share to kick the shit out of all of the Gym master's pokemon

At least he got me to stop focusing on XP-related ways of solving my problem. I would've won the first fight if I bought more potions for my Graveler. I was pissed that they gave the Trainer coverage moves that the mons would not normally have and they could hit my Graveler despite being normal

You shouldn't have to grind in Pokemon retard. Literal children beat these games by just using their starter and nothing else without grinding at all. If you have to grind it just means you are too stupid for a game literally designed for little kids.

Ye I ditched the starter Treeko because I thought it was terrible, even though it levels like twice as fast as Graveler. Its strongest grass attack has 20 power and he doesn't get a good grass move til like 27 so I ditched it. But in that gym fight, having lots of levels is what mattered most. I ended up beating it by self-destructing both Graveler and Koffing

When I was young I used to grind on the reporters. Once you beat them enough times they stop changing location and remain at their first location, north of Mauville City, although you have to fly to the hot spring town to fight them again. I've no idea if that's more efficient than just doing the Elite 4, but it was my favourite method as a kid, so it probably sucked.

I mean that's cool and all, but are there literally no XP farming spots past RSE? How the fuck are you supposed to be able to grind past lv. 60? Do you just keep beating the league over and over again?

Is it quicker to drop my pocket monsters off at the pocket monster day care center or should I use this trick?

I typically drop them off and then hop on my bike, turn high speed on and cycle from Verdanturf to Route 118.

OP here, I dunno, I'm new to the game. This spot is level 14-16 numels so it's great for early game. It's Route 111 so you can get there very early. I used the Wingull as my water type because I find the Wingull's Water-Flying type gives it excellent coverage with minimal weaknesses considering so many early game enemies are ground or bug or grass etc., and the Wing Attack has 60 base power and is unlocked around lvl 11 so you can use that vs anything not weak to water or flying

I once read on a WoW guide that grinding enemies should be ~5 levels below yours in order to perfectly achieve that balance between quick matches and enough xp to make the time worth it . Applying this to pogey helps too

I got the idea from Diablo farming efficiency. There's no way around the fact that killing lots weak stuff fast gives more than killing tough stuff slowly. I generally go for 1-shot farming so that I can stay there without taking damage, and I only need to return to town for PP. Tentacools out-sped my Electrike and always got the first shot so I found a surf spot next to a Pokemon Center to level my Electric type in preparation for the Feather Badge

neat trick op but you really don't need to grind in these games. really, unless you want a rotating party of like 8 or 10, grinding just negates all challenge and suspense

I ditched the starter because Treeko's grass move has a base power of 20, and doesn't get a 70 grass move until level 29, compared to say Wingull who gets a 70 power Flying STAB at 11. Also I already have mons for vs. water (elec) and vs ground (water) and vs rock (water/steel). It probably wasn't the best choice considering how much faster the starter levels compared to the rest, I'm beyond lvl30 now, and Sceptile's great stats compared to the other Grass types which make up for it learning moves 10-20 levels later than other mons, but that was my reasoning.

hey bro i know youre new and all to this but you're way overthinkin this in-game shit that's made for kids who don't even know how to read. just enjoy the roleplaying, befriending your fav mons, using your imagination, expressing yourself in the journey. if ya really only like the numbers of battling and shit head over to smogon and showdown

During my Red and LeafGreen playthroughs, I got triggered that I wasted the best TMs on mons that didn't deserve it. You get some incredibly powerful ones early on and it can be best to give Earthquake to someone who can't learn it, for example. It's actually enjoyable coming up with cool builds. It's one of my fav parts of the game. They are nothing revolutionary but the builds are new for me
