Houndour evolves too early to be found there, Houndoom completely sweeps Morty. They’d have to change its evolution to level 30 or something. Everything else is good.

Leaves almost nothing new to discover in Kanto, which defeats the purpose. You'd have to take some Pokemon away and restrict them to Kanto instead to maintain that feeling of discovery late into the game.

Or just let Kanto mons be discovered in Kanto? Even if you've already seen one before searching for a rare Dratini or other mon would be fun, and there were a few pokemon from Kanto that weren't available in the wild in RBY, which could be distributed to new places in the region.

You have to remember that in GSC the "new" Pokemon are not native to Johto, they're just as new there as they are in Kanto, which is why you still have new Pokemon showing up as late as Mt. Silver. They're new to both regions.

There's no reason for newly introduced gen 2 pokemons to be locked behind a postgame that takes place in literally another region, specially when they only introduced 100 new pokemons.

1. Hiding new nonlegendary pokemon in the postgame is always bad design

The level curve could have been fixed to accommodate Kanto, saying it ruins Johto implies GSC would be better off without it when the fact they're connected is one of the biggest benefits to the Johto experience there is. The reason people constantly call it soulful is because GSC makes you feel fully immersed in the Pokemon World more than probably any other game in the franchise. I haven't played SMUSUM or SWSH so IDK, but as far as Gens 1 - 6 goes, its among the best if not the best in this regard.

Being connected to Kanto is absolutely a part of that. Get off the highly cynical /vp/.

Houndour being available at night in spots where Growlithe is available during the day.
Burned Tower is a good place for both Slugma & Misdreavus to show up.
Put Larvitar in the Dark Cave (Blackthorn side) so you have a chance to raise it during the game.
Murkrow during the day in headbutt trees because they sleep in their nests during the day day, and in several grass patches at night as a rare.
Also add a metal coat earlier so you can actually evolve Onix/Scyther pre-champion

It works as intended, the intention was just a mistake. In theory having 3 gyms scaled to be played in any order is cool, in practice it just means your gym 5 is harder and gyms 6 and 7 are easier.
