Especially when they make that kind of stuff part of the lore. Even if it's just a "myth" in-universe, the employees at Game Freak knew exactly what they were doing when they added that shit to the game. Besides, Pokemon are living beings that must breathe, eat, sleep...and surely, get horny, just like every other living being. Namely in this case, humans. It's not irrational to think they would turn to their trainer, with whom they've formed a bond with, to find sexual relief. You can claim that Pokephilia is probably looked down upon, and I would even agree with you. But to claim that it doesn't happen is just absurd.
