As a poorfag and one of those kids who's mom really only got them educational games, I never got to play gen 4 during it's peak. All I had to me were the TCG and the anime whenever it came on. I'd just sit around playing with cards knowing fuck all what to do as everyone else my age enjoyed HGSS and Platinum.
Despite not being able to play gen 5 either, the new Pokemon, music, cards, and anime made me decide that I was a gen 5 fag despite being born to play gen 4. To this day I still like gen 5.
As for gen 4, I've never been able to play Platinum specifically. Your standard culprits. It kinda chips away at me knowing that if things were just a little different I'd be able to appreciate these games, and yet I can't. I make excuses not to touch Platinum all the time and watching other people my age revel in their nostalgia frustrates me. Maybe it's better I can't click with them because of their attitude to other gens, but at this point I don't even know.
