The Pokémon world isn't our world, so it doesn't have legends about doragons, so that word didn't actually mean anything in that world, until they created it to describe that pokémon type energy unique to Dratini, Dragonair and Dragonite.
Charizard line doesn't have that energy in any point.
Also, it's a starter and Dragon type was the fucking legendary allpowerfull and full of resistances, only weak to a type that have like two moves and with the exception of Articuno, no wild pokémon of this type.
