Iirc only BW Bianca was the only young Pokegirl explicitly stated to be around Brock's age due to her dad postponing her adventure

All pros in the anime are adults, barring some few exceptions like Ash himself (Alola Champion), Iris (Unova Champion), Zoey (won a Grand Festival), Anabel (Frontier Brain), Aria (Kalos Queen) and some other minor characters. Everyone else is an adult.

Not to mention, Risa is definitely not 10 if her brother is any indication of anything.

Ok, so now that we have a bit more background around project mew(seemingly a sakuragi-esque venture funded by some wealthy professor), I want to see some qualifications from Tsurugi and Asahi themselves. Why do they have such a big ego? They both think they're hot shit. Granted, we haven't seen the episode yet and having an Urshifu is fairly impressive. But it's just like Goh with Suicune, sure that was the reason he was able to get his foot in the door but he's still a pretty mediocre trainer. I would like to see some reasoning this episode as to why these two are SOOOO good that you have to go through several extremely dangerous missions just to have the privilege of teaming up with them. What are your thoughts on this, /padt/?

Just owning, and being able to control, a legendary should tell you enough about what caliber of trainer they are, but most likely they're pros when it comes to gathering information, exploration and wildlife survival. If you look at Ash and Go during the entirety of PM, they've been spoonfed information from Sakuragi and mostly travelled using airplanes and kept in civilized areas. There's a few exceptions like when they went to the Dragonite island and Mewtwos island, but they've also relied a lot on others, like how they had to be taught how to traverse the desert in the Golurk raid episode. We know Ash is a seasoned adventurer and Goh definitely is a prodigy, but in Tsurugi and Asahi's eyes they probably look like naïve novices.

Imagine everything on Pocket Monsters remain same except three things --

-- Ash work for large organisation like Chaldea rather than small institute like Sakuragi's lab
-- There are many other research fellow that work for that organisation. Some of them will involve Gary, Hop , Bianca etc etc.
-- Ash's partner will be Gloria, basically she will be the Mashu (FGO) of the show.

Don't care about Gloria but the research institute definitely needs some more recurring characters. The colorful cast was the best part of SM so its a shame we mostly spend time with A&G, plus the supporting cast is pretty one-dimensional.

I have also realised that Aether Foundation could have been the Chaldea (FGO) of pokemon anime. Maybe Lusamine opens a brunch office on Vermilion city or take over the Sakuragi institute . They even has the technology to open Ultra wormhole.

There is another idea, Siebold open a big restaurant on Vermilion city and Mallow shows up to become his apprentice. Clian ether open his own connoisseur cafe or start working for Siebold who's restaurants become so popular that various characters from the game start visiting it therefore the whole restaurant become a plot device for various episodes.

Alain was always hated since Mega evolution special 4, there is nothing likable about him from the start. I mean, the only thing he accomplish for the franchise was turning Charizard into the most hated pokemon of the franchise.

I'm starting to wonder. If you have to be as good as Gary to get on Project Mew, wouldn't Asahi and Tsurugi be around Champion level trainers?

Also, I just noticed she's voiced by the same person who voices Sora in Digimon. It's going to be weird since I just watched the Sora episode recently in Digimon. It's similar to the feeling I get watching Koharu and then later hearing Romin in SEVENS.

It feels like this whole Project Mew stuff was meant to give some direction to Go's goal rather than just capturing random pokemon in every episode. Problem is they waited 70 episodes into the series to do this, when they should have introduced this like 20-30 eps in at the latest. Now it makes it seem Go is striving for something.

May's cameo arc aired in 2008, making it 13 years since her last appearance.

To put that in perspective, the start of the anime from Kanto in 1997 to 13 years later in 2010 would be the last year of the DP series. May's been gone for the same timeframe from Kanto to the end of the DP series, the first 13 years of the anime. The passage of time is crazy

After XYZ ended, it stopped seeming like the flow of time even mattered at that point. Say what you want but the badge quest amd the whole OSXY "formula" kinda pressured you as a viewer into having an illusion of a sense of slow yet steady time progression.
Ever since SM started, Pokemon finally started being like those shows like Arthur or the Family Guy where stuff happens just because without it being tied to an invisible "timeline" within the narrative.

Mind you, I'm not saying the SM tone shift was a bad thing per se since it's pretty much impossible to top the DP or XY storytelling and animation peaks in the framework of the old ashnime shounenesque (???not the best word to describe it really but you know what I mean) formula so the only logical decision was to go for a completely new direction. I can understand that.
But I think it's fairly logical to at least acknowledge that the SM season brought some very radical changes to the show's format that really set the newer ashnime iterations apart from the OSXY era even if it occasionally came off as dull and uneventful.

I think the Pokemon Go angle is just an excuse to divorce the show from a particular setting and draw lots and lots of different Pokemon from throughout the gens. It's not about getting the Go audience to watch. I also think there's a chance the directors/writers saw what SwSh had to offer and found themselves disinterested in doing an entire series of that storyline/region.

It doesn't matter if it's harmless or not as long as its racial.

However there is nothing racial about Ash liking an older character. The series had older character hit on Misty multiple times without any backlash, not to mention Kiawe's sister having huge crush on Gladion.

Furthermore if Ash develop crush on Melony will be one sided so there is nothing pedo about that. It will be just an innocent crush for a child.

that's what i'm saying. there's nothing wrong with it but ash having a crush on melony would not be taken well by autistic shippers and they would grasp at straws like that to complain about it

After somebody compare Ash and Misty's relationship with siblings relationship, it makes me wants to see more Pokeshipping. Specially since there is no blood relationship getting in the way. After all, current Ash is more like a child so Misty being cool Meddlesome "Sister" that dots on Ash makes Pokeshipping interesting & not really out of place for a kids anime like Amourshipping.

If only the anime made her prettier, unfortunately she doesn't look good on SM artstyle at all.
