Gen 3 did a lot of things wrong and caused the slow downhill decay of the franchise, but one thing it did right was create this lil guy!

I guess you mean removing the day/night cycle setting a precedent for new games to not include everything from old games? Because on the gameplay and design front gen 3 did nothing but right.

Gen 3 only didn't have backwards compatibility because of the multiple systemic changes to pokemon themselves that made it literally impossible for it to cross over. IV changes; abilities being added, gender being un-tied from Attack DV; shininess not being determined by DV's...

Gen 3 saved Pokemon from the incomplete, directionless mess that was Gen 2. It was the return to form of the franchise and set it on the correct path forward (before eventually being lost again with Gen 5).

Gen 3 has quite a few Pokemon with unique footprint details, which is weird since the dex footprints were added in Gen 2 and Dr. Footstep was in Gen 4

I see gen 3 as a dark ages and gen 4 as a renaissance. nly reasn I say that is GF did a lot of strange walk backs on stuff they praised and gush over their gen 2 on. The DNS cycle, days of the week, being big ones that were brought back again in gen4. I really do not get it on why they just relied on "Look now we can have 16 color pallets on our mons and we can have reflections in the water and more weather!" Yes those are good but you left in glaring issues.
