When I played my first pokemon game (Soulsilver), I didn't know shinies existed. I was going blind throughout the game. I found an green ursaring, and I thought my game was bugged or my eye sight was funny (I was almost asleep). Had to bring to my mom and ask if it was really green, and she confirmed.
I captured it with few HP left.
And only after that I discovered shinies.

I don't brag, but I like to remember this memory. Since I almost switched the DS off thinking it was a bug.

My shiny Zeraora, everyone got one but I've wanted one of my own legitimately since gen 7 and now at last I have one.

Of course through my own efforts haching a shiny female Rockruff to evolve it into the dusk form Lycanroc in gen 7. Took me almost a year but finally got it. I wish getting shiny pokemon were easier, now I want shiny Margearna and Zacian but both of them are probably years and years away from being able to get legitimately

I accidentally got a shiny Dialga back when SS came out after I used the Ruins of Alph and wiped my save a few times to get 3. (one for myself since I had Pearl, one for a friend who also had Pearl, one spare) Didn't even notice until it was forcibly sent out after my starter fainted.
On the other hand, most of my shinies have sucked ass and I've lost them all for one reason or another, including that Dialga which was transferred to Black cart that stopped being readable a while later.
