good games in terms of mechanics and content, pretty good music minus low hp track, some good characters/moments/routes in isolation

bland region, mediocore story/characters that intrude on the game too much, not much atmosphere, lots of the new pokemon designs are duds

in bw using something like a ferrathorn or cotonee as a support mon in story mode feels genuinely worth doing but in gen 6 we're back to just being faster and using super effective moves for all the fights, even though they do objectively have more going on you have no reason to bother with most of it

megas are cool but they make the games too simple again, also gen 5 games beat out the gen 6 games on (worthwhile) content easily
