"So I've been working on and off on this thing for over a year now and we're nearing the finish line, I think. What started as my own personal self-insert fanfiction now has quite a few people interested in playing it which still makes me smile. There's still a bit to be done before a 1.0 release, namely a CG here and there, and hopefully some extra sprites to play with if that doesn't take too long. One contentious thing is that I'm still going to be using some repurposed assets, like Dawn's sprites and Katawa Shoujo's soundtrack, which I do plan to replace with my own original assets eventually, but I've been on 0.9 for months and months now and I've basically decided that if I were to wait to replace ALL of that, the thing could still be on 0.9 well into the next year, which I don't want. I know some people don't love that I'm using non-original assets, which I can sympathize with, but this thing wouldn't exist at all if I had never utilized them in the first place.
The main thing, then, is how is it a 1.0 release if I'm still planning to add new assets. My reasoning, again partly like I said before in that I want to release this sometime before I die, is that even with the repurposed assets, I think 1.0 is going to be the finalized experience that I'm happy with presenting. It's got all the CG's I wanted, it's got a beginning middle and end, it's got music, sprites, sounds, etc., and as far as I'm concerned, that represents a "finished" product; it'll hardly be the first time someone's planning to make further improvements in versions past 1.0, right?"
