My only real guess is that the gen 3 and 4 remakes are too recent, all the ideas they had for those gens mons were already put in in mega forms in ORAS and in whatever we're getting in BDSP, there was nothing left for LA.

I know the distribution is not proportioned, but Unova has the largest pool of Pokemon and until gen 8 almost none of them had received any special form, so it makes sense, plus there is the obvious Turner bias

Honestly not too surprising. It's obvious the Game Freak/TPC cares about Unovan Pokemon more than any other gen aside from Kanto

I don't know. The only region that has been ignored/actively hated by Game Freak/TPC was Johto, though considering Cyndaquil is the Legends starter, it looks like Game Freak will finally start respecting Johto.

As someone who was around during the days those games were genuinely relevant, I can tell you that it was pretty hated on almost every platform I was on. GameFAQs, Gamespy's many forums that never were on topic, 4chan... Gen 5 was not a particularly well liked game.
Hindsight's 2020, they have their own reasons for disliking it(it did remove a bunch of features such as berry growing, cooking any sort of Poketreats, and had a few weak new features like the C-Gear), but it was pretty much panned for the first 3-4 weeks that it was on sale, and although Pokemon games NEVER get a bad score, BW is notorious for having the lowest review scores of any Pokemon game.
Gen 7 has nothing on the shit 5 received.

I haven't played Gen5, though I've watched videos of the story and played the meta. I'm sure it has flaws like every other game and maybe there was something about it that apparently so awful that it warranted selling so badly (though I feel being released at the end of the DS's life span could have something to do with it). The only fans who get to make fun of Gen 5's animations are GSC's players, since Crystal's animations were smoother and more natural, but even then Gen 5's moved for the whole battle and had to be looped so they can't be directly compared.

There as no fucking dexit in Gen 5. Every single Pokemon was still in the game. Respecting your new creations enough to let them play significant roles in their own generation is a good thing. And using old Pokemon as a post-game reward is now you show respect for your fans, not imprisoning them in a worse version of Bank.

Legends is going to incorporate legitimate Time Travel thanks to it taking place in the region of Time & Space & Antimatter
Which means potentially there will also be an in-world explanation for transferring Pokemon out of Legends into Bank, something about utilizing that weird future technology
If Legends is successful we could see future Legends titles that take place anywhere on the timeline

as others have said, Hisuian forms of Sinnoh mons would be a lore clusterfuck. You'd have to explain either: a) why Sinnoh is no longer able to produce those Hisuian Forms&Evos; b) why the Hisui native mons died out before the modern day

While imperfect, using mons from other gens allows a kind of Obstagoon situation where they left Hisui and adapted to their new regions

let's take a hypothetical Hisuian Stantler and Wyrdeer
The two pokemon move to Johto at some point, and over time adapt to the lower stress and lower human reliance by reducing their evolutionary line first to Hisuian Stantler, then to Johtonian Stantler. Similar to how Galarian Zigzags moved to Hoenn where they adapted to the new region by ditching the Obstagoon evo
While messy, this would be an easier explanation then explaining why a hypothetical Hisuian Pachirisu is no longer a flying fox in the modern day

The main thing I'll tackle is the sales:They were released at the end of DS' lifespan, but we knew that there'd be a pretty long gap between the next Pokemon games, and 3DS hadn't released yet. Furthermore, it was made obvious after the fact that the 3DS WAS 100% able to play DS games, so BW2 should not have sold ALMOST as poorly as Platinum did, and BW's sales numbers shouldn't hiked up a bit, but they didn't. I don't know why they didn't, since there was a good year period before BW2 came out and where BW was still being sold everywhere, but I suspect it may have something to do with people having their biases built up in the several month period by the time the 3DS did release.
That or marketing stopped, I don't actually watch a whole lot of TV so that may have happened in the background without me noticing. I watch like a handful of episodes of a show per year at most.

Yeah why would anyone care about the world you literally play the game in. Who cares about immersion right?

I actually don't have a problem with the ice cream line itself but Unova has a pretty unabalanced good to bad Pokémon ratio imo.

They absolutely were not good for their time. There's plenty of DS games who have actually good sprite work out there that came out BEFORE BW itself came out. Even Gen 4 has better sprite work because at least they're smooth and don't constantly stutter. This is a genuine and valid complaint now, come on

The thing is though, BW were intentionally supposed to be soft reboots for the series which is why they based many of the new Pokémon on existing kanto Pokémon archetypes moreso than in any previous region. It was supposed to be like the RBY for the new era, hence why BW also has a similar amount of Pokémon as RBY and many of them are homages/rip offs of the original 151

you realize thats the point, if you want those regional mons you have to buy the game and transfer to newer games (the latter part may not even be a factor anymore) its a shitty business practice but they know what theyre doing

gf has already made a distinction that hisui is different from sinnoh in some ways. they talk abour special materials that cause scyther to evolve. they could just say that hisui had unique berries or something but for some reason they all disappeared and that caused pachirisu to lose its flying type (obv a bad explanation but something similar with those "special minerals" could work)
