It only benefits people who want to limit themselves, and those people are already capable of putting limits in place, so in reality nobody benefits while people who don't want level caps are harmed.

just speedrunning with one pokemon gets you to lv70s by the end of the game. If you do all the optional content you could easily hit high lv80s.

when I played diamond the day it came out I managed to get to the gate of sunnyshore city by the time I went to sleep and my empoleon was easily level 70+ since that was the only thing I used in battles

Because it's a game for kids, the odd one isn't them, it's you: the middle aged man who still plays game from his childhood then complains they're easy. They've always been easy. Let kids play like you used to. They'll complain about the same thing in some years anyway.

Everyone plays differently. My first game was gold and I barely knew english so I only used a Typhlosion, and some gift mons like Eevee, Togepi and a Ho-Oh on a masterball, plus the Gyarados because of the funny shiny stars, but while Ho-Oh and Typhlosion were mid 70s, the others were like level 5-10 and level 30 for Gyarados

The progression mechanics in pokemon games are bad. Level caps are the worst kind of band-aid you could come up with. You need to actually fix how levels work and not cuck the player out of using their pokemon.

It's too difficult to emulate a level-cap just by limiting yourself, they really should implement at least custom level caps as an option. Preferably one that can be changed at any point.

I don't play Pokemon for difficulty. I play Pokemon to collect monsters, experiment with different teams and to feel like a badass mopping everyone in my path with my bromon.

This. Pokemon is made to be played in whatever way you want, so of it’s too easy you can just train more pokemon, or use weak pokemon, or try to win battles at a disadvantage.
