Volkner's team isn't the product of that kind of thinking, although his Octillery choice would have you believe it, especially since you can find Octillery by the sea and the bumps on its body resemble the studs on Volkner's jacket. Ambipom and most of Flint's composition prove its not true though.

Retards ITT don't realize Volkner's team is the way it is due to DP's dogshit dex distribution creating a situation where there were literally not enough good Electric types to fit on an entire team of 4 so they had to get filler like Ambipom.
Volkner (and Flint's) teams weren't designed with the intent of tripping up the player and punishing them for thinking they could spam through it with type effectiveness, they were trash teams hobbled together because DP had really horrible encounter tables that it took Platinum to fix. BDSP was actually the perfect chance to fix that by doing things like giving Ambipom Ice Punch to fuck over Torterra users but instead it was just a generic fake out double hit set so clearly not even GF (or ILCA, whatever) cares about whatever bullshit shills are trying to argue.
