There are no more cut moves no matter how useless they may be deemed. Actually, scratch that, old "worthless" moves are getting buffed. Mud Sport now makes you immune to electric attacks for a few turns and Bide has higher priority while also giving you a defensive boost upon use.
Hidden Power is back as a TM, but it's type is no longer tailored to IVs and can be changeable. Not only that, damage calculation is determined by the Pokémon's best attack stat so even physical attackers can get some use out of it.
Past gimmicks are back, but the unlock criteria is strictly in the post-game. Mega Rayquaza and Dynamax are getting massively nerfed by requiring items—Max Move damage calculation has also been reduced as have the secondary effects have been removed, but players do not need to grind for Dynamax Candies to get the double HP. Gigantamax is now just an aesthetic.
There is a National Dex, but completing the regional dex nets you the Shiny Charm. National Dex completion just gets you some special clothing to show off for online interactions.
In-game GTS is back. Now the people who like to collect both versions can finally trade with themselves again (which is especially helpful for raising trade evolutions).
Story bosses have improvised "competitive" teams, making use of low-to-mid-tier moves with maybe some TM moves.
Legendary Pokémon are caught strictly after the champion battle. Past legendary Pokémon are found in rooms paying homage to their respective games.
Post-game routes are heavilly populated by non-native Pokémon to the region.
The Battle Tower is now accompanied by the Battle Factory w/ Triple/Rotation+Multi battles
