>>48906012Honestly the biggest thing is literally just autism where people were throwing the biggest fit over fucking nothing. IRL I met an actual non-meme autistic adult who every five minutes chimed in with some "joke" about how "GameFreak is the devil" and SwSh is the worst game ever made. That's the average person sperging about these games.
However, the games DO represent all the problems with the franchise that have been getting worse since the switch to 3D.
The games are rushed and look incredibly cheap, which stands out MUCH more on the Switch where there aren't near the technical limitations of the 3DS.
So much of the design is antiquated that they have to add "QOL" features just to cover up how outdated they are, yet it still feels a decade behind its contemporaries.
The central gimmick of the Wild area is stapled together and incomplete, and feels like some sort of proof of concept.
The graphics look like a port of a 3DS game, yet the game still runs like shit.
The whole thing was a huge wake up call as to just how ill-equipped GameFreak are to make console games. I don't mean this as an insult, it's management's fault, not the developers. And Masuda's interviews reveal this really bizarre level of cynicism and detachment.
I think the NatDex thing revealed just how much this series is dependent on nostalgia to sell. There was this much outrage just over a past feature being removed and being unable to use *certain* past Pokemon.
