Weird thing the director made a big deal out of the Ash/Koharu pair but they didn't even have much scenes together since most of it was focused on Dawn/Go visiting the AU Dawn. Then Cynthia showed up so Ash/Koharu were barely together anyway

It seems he's stayed in touch with the Alola Gang, who were already aware of who Go was before he arrived, with Lana even being able to recognize him by looks. There have been more interesting episodes in the same series regarding similar subject matter. Go's trouble making friends growing up has been handled in a much less hamfisted manner and with a handful of great focus episodes that still managed to feel like normal episodes of Pokemon.

Considering the route anipoke taking, they will need a strong supporting cast with interesting personality & dynamic with protagonist to compensate for the lack of overreaching story. Goh and Koharu doesn't has that!

Anipoke should move at least one character from each region (except Kanto) to Vermilion city as a supporting cast.

This anime require a Vermilion gang that Ash and Goh hung around with when they doesn't go to other regions for random research. The anime can also make episode on they visiting Summer festival together or holding a New year party.

There is a reason why most episode take place in Vermilion city. Its the home base where Ash and Goh lives so many episode will take place there.

This is why writer need a supporting cast that lives in Vermilion city. Also they can't just put random character, they will need to think carefully about which characters to pick based on their personality and possible impact on the show's settings.

What stopping Incineroar from using Bulk Up and use normal kick & punches to fight instead of wasting moveslot to basic attack. I can see Incineroar using Bulk Up and smash wall with normal punch or grad a target to toss him or simply cutting projectiles by scratching. This is why I don't like "4 moveslot syndrome".

Surprisingly the first cameo did Dawn and Koharu's interactions much better than Dawn/Go. This just had Go realizing Dawn was similar to Ash but other than that their interactions were nothing special. Dawn went full lesbo with Koharu in the first cameo and that was more fun to watch.

I don't think PM is "ending" because this isn't a series based in Galar alone. PM can insert new region and its contents while retaining its current name. Ash can ditch some of his PM team mons at Sakuragi Research Park to relive Oak's "burden". I think he will keep his Lucario and his Pikachu as his PM team while he gets new Gen mons.

It isn't random. It was planned before SM ended. Also Sakuragi Lab is a way bigger lab and park compared to Oak's. And Professor Sakuragi has a passion for researching Pokemon (which never ends) is similar to that of Oak's.

It's a bit out of nowhere to just introduce another professor and lab, but I figured they probably wanted to stick the show's home hub in a more urban setting than Pallet. As for Sakuragi himself, it's hard to complain about his inclusion because he's just a nice, pleasant guy with the means to send the main characters on adventures. He's not offensive, nor is he taking up too much time, but he's also truly not memorable. I end up more irritated with Koharu, who eats up an entire episode every few weeks and gives us nothing.

Not sure if the anime follows it, but the actual setting lore for Galar is that there's a gym for every Type but they're split between a major and minor division that changes each year for the League (The 8 majors are chosen based on the overall performance from the previous year).

At least the Go/Dawn half of the episode bore some fruit. Dawn and Go sneaking around alt!Dawn's house was fun, and it was nice to see Go warm to Dawn without hesitation, unlike with the Alola gang. Dawn likewise kept her cool and wasn't childish or self-important, while still getting in a little classic Dawn-panic when learning about the eggs. Episode was still boring and exposition heavy, but Dawn/Go had the better showing over Koharu/Ash.

I feel that PM Ash still suffer from the show's attempt to treat him like a paragon with childish personality considering Ash's lack of sass & sarcasm from the OS series. The main reason XY Ash flopped because he lost pretty much all his personality and started to do everything that the paragon protagonist would do.

Original Ash wasn't a paragon; he was kind and empathic but he was also sassy, boastful, snarky and a little selfish like an actual 10 year old kid. Reverting Ash back to that personality while retaining his experience, maturity and competence doesn't ruin his character development. If anything, XY Ash losing the Kalos league to Alain insult Ash's character development way more than sassy Ash does.

I agree that Ash could use more childish traits, but after getting humbled by Drake in AG he was never the same. Double so when Gary beat him after the Battle Frontier. Ash bragged about beating all the Frontier Brains and Gary walloped him hard. From that point onward he never threw his old accomplishments around, even letting Paul take a loss to Brandon without divulging himself that he'd won against Brandon before. DP Ash was pretty flat too, Dawn and Brock were more lively.

I like it, it’s a lot more wholesome and friend-like than his relationships with past Champions. With Cynthia, she has a soft admiration for Ash’s heroism and optimism while also understanding Ash’s skills as a trainer and how they affect the people around them. Leon on the other hand is like an older brother to Ash and sees him as someone he can rely on, while also fully aware of Ash’s latent battle abilities.

Cynthia and Leon are much better than Lance and Diantha. Alder didn’t have a relationship with Ash and Steven met Ash too late into the game.

It's unironically gotten to the point where I prefer the twitter Pokemon anime fandom over bulbagarden/serebii. Even though the twitter zoomers can be ridiculous sometimes with their cancel culture, they genuinely enjoy the anime and talk about the good parts of each series. Most of them are praising the recent eps.

Meanwhile on bulbagarden/serebii all you see is constant negativity and people constantly shitting on good episodes.
