Gen 1 stands out so much when compared to the rest of the Pokemon generations that I believe it should be reworked to fit in better

It's because the designs are that much better than everything after Gen III that Gen IV-VIII look weird by comparison, but people have been conditioned into accepting the IV-VIII designs as 'standard'.

gen 1 and by an extension gen 2, which i see as more of an expansion to gen 1, than a separate gen, followed a very specific rule....they're monsters. following gens, especially from gen 4 on, really took off with the over complicated designs and inspirations. gen 5-7 are mainly just furry porn. gen 8 is pretty good desu. this is why its more common to see regional variants on gen 1 mons, to bring them more inline with newer generation designs, so they dont stand out as much.

I'd like it if it strayed away from kanto more, instead of doing shit like woobat instead of zubat, a three stage trade evolution rock type and a three stage trade evolution fighting type. Also the genies and monkeys would need to go.

I disagree to an extent. Woobat, Rogganrola line, Timburr line and Pansage line are fine. I will this:
Woobat needs a better evo.
Landorus should be cut since the genies were supposed to be a duo based on Japanese Gods of Wind and Thunder.
Leave Simipour as a gender difference.
Change the evo method for Gigalith and Conkeldurr.

Agreed with you until this. Gen 8 is, no hyperbole, the worst set of designs in the entire franchise. There are only maybe 2 salvageable lines in the entire dex.

i wasnt talking about set/story, i was talking pure pokemon designs. since gen 5 when they introduced friends you journey with, the games stories have gotten more and more hand holdy and filler, where i can just press A for 4 hours and beat the game.

Honestly, Gen 1 starters are overrated as fuck (not even that they’re bad is that they get way too much of worship for what they are), they only reason they’re as popular as they are is because they’ve been shoved in our faces for 25 years straight.

That’s fair I can’t really argue. It doesn’t help that Game Freak actively hates Johto fans and artificially makes the Johto starters look bland to make the Kanto starters look better
>give them Kanto starters stat values when every other starter trio was allowed to get better ones
> intentionally gives them barren movepools when there are several thematic moves that would fit
>gives them abilities that insulting bland or actively worthless (flash fire is the single most boring and lazy ability to give to a fire type and leaf guard is shit) Feraligatr is clearly the only one they cared about (I think it was only allowed to get sheer force because GF is fully of Kaijufans
>intentionally skips them over when handing out buffs or special snowflake mechanics (Charizard has more forms than all the Johto starters combined)
>removed Typhlosion’s flame from it battle spite when there was a fucking arc in the anime where Cyndaquil learned to have its flame out all the time in battle (are all Cyndaquil in the game unhealthy or something)
If the Johto starters got half the shilling any other starter trio got they would be worshipped regardless of “just getting bigger”
