there's a lot of really solid ones; nidoking/queen lines, typhlosion line, venusaur line, etc but i think picrel is my favorite. shame they're both trade evos but it's one of the coolest concepts in the series.

From what I read on the wiki shellmon is itself a single Digimon. Whereas slowpokes evolutions all have a separate shelter attach to them.

Totally unique designs yet all perfectly connected thematically and progressing logically.
My favorite part about pokemon like this is that they aren't even technically evolving. The little flame ghost that is the real pokemon is just possessing a different object as it gets stronger.

I'm still bothered that they are pure Flying. I've seen the arguments about why, but it just seems so strange they would abandon dual type early game bird now of all times. The first pure flying we have was three generations ago and even then these don't look any more "flying" than Pokemon like Pidgey do. It really gets under my skin, because it just seems like game freak decided they didn't give a shit anymore and are just doing whatever the hell they feel right now
