The "energy" shit you see in the anime is the same stuff seen in real-world levitation, sleep-induction, asports and apports. It's vitality: the thing that allows you to sense organs inside the body, to see auras, to use Egely wheels, behind DMILS, etc. It's not the same thing as ESP-PK, and it's even harder to control.
