I desperately wanted to shit on this game, but I really am having fun. I think its because the player actually has freedom again. I didn't feel like progressing the after getting the fish, so I backtracked and spent several hours just filling out dex pages and there was no issue. I'm stupidly over leveled for trainer battles, but unlike BDSP, EXP share doesn't completely fucking ruin this game because
1. you're constantly swapping Pokemon out, as you're meant to, unlike how shills defended BDSP by telling to to gimp yourself
2. enemy wild Pokemon are fucking strong, the combination of coverage and enemy AI abusing the Speed/Strength styles + multiple versus one means you can be way overleveled and still get beat up, I just got 5/6 of my team slam dunked by the Alpha Electivre and only had the chance to throw 2 Pokeballs.
And lastly, but I think the most important
3. all the little details
>Pokemon do altered versions of their cries when attacking/taking damage
>if you KO an enemy your Pokemon celebrates, and vice versa
>they actually used all the amie animations, giving Pokemon a lot of reactions, i.e when Croagunk uses Nasty Plot, instead of just jumping in place with VFX, they play his happy animation from amie instead
>ghosts have some spooky ooooOOoooo noise so you know they're around, and also teleport jumpscare attack you
>Pokemon make different walking/idle noise, best example is Octillery
>Pokemon will sleep if you sit by them after throwing the ball out, and if you throw said ball at another ally pokemon, the two converse
This is the stuff the series was missing. I'm mad because I shitposted about this game for months but now I'm like 40 hours in. Still not buying it though.
Worst things about this game are how you can't hear the route music because the theme of you getting hunted and Alpha Pokemon overtake the music and the're everywhere. Also, as fun as this game is, GF still cocked it up by making massive maps and no minimap.
