PLA is proof that Masuda and Ohmori are holding back Pokemon drastically and the games can only improve when they aren't actually working on them.

it's fucking unreal just how stark the quality (by pokémon standards) gap is between masuda/ohmori and non-masuda/ohmori projects is. unfortunately i fully expect to see both of them front and center revealing their roles in gen 9's reveal trailer

Ohmori is still credited in Legends, Masuda however only had a small supervising role.

I know blindly hating everything about SWSH is the cool thing to do, but the wild area was still the first attempt at moving the series forward with proper open 3D, so it's unfair to say Ohmori is holding things back.

it was a guy named Hiroyuki Tani, that was his only directorial role in the seires. Iwao did PLA and also fixed up SM to make USUM.

That's why they released in January, single version, without marketing, and only 3 months after a new game / 1 month before announcing gen 9
