I swear some of you guys have fucking Stockholm Syndrome. Replacing a bad, archaic feature with a better, more modern one is not a bad thing. I bet someone is bitching about the removal of IVs/EVs too.

Unfortunately EVs are still totalled behind the scenes as are IVs, which makes me think gen 9 will go back to the standard system.

anon there are still rare encounters in pla, for example i ran into a pichu very early on in PLA and i could never find it again because its an ultra rare spawn, same with other Pokemon like togepi, which I couldn't find till postgame.

no, you miss running around in a patch of grass for 30 minutes looking for a slakoth. There are still rare encounters you just have to be patient enough to find them.

Yeah. they don't impact stats or damage calcs at all in PLA, but they're there. When you catch a pokemon and it already has some effort levels, that means it has good IVs under the hood.

A lot of new Pokemon are relatively common, but evolving them can be a big filter, for example, to get Overquil, you need to use its signature move in Strong Style like...30 times. Same with Wyrdeer. H-Zoura is tough to find too.
Outside of that, there are regular Pokemon just tough to find or squirreled away in a secret alcove, for example I only JUST found out you can find the entire Chansey line in the first area some 60 hours in because they're so well hidden.

That's misleading as hell, anon, a Pokemon being caught with like 2 Sp. Def effort levels is not the same as a special attacking Pokemon running around with a 4 Sp. Attack IV. All stats can be boosted all the way up to 10 with items with no limits, there's no EVs and IVs in PLA, certainly not in the traditional sense.

Standard EVs and IVs are still programmed into the game, but they are hidden from the player and aren't used in any stat or damage calcs in PLA. Probably to ensure compatibility with Home, since it uses the "old" stat system.

I'm still more okay with this than the numbers mania previously required. In fact this would be a great way to filter cheaters; if a Pokemon has maxed out stats that the player has no direct control over, you know they did some shady shit.

I'm not as certain as you are that every mainline game following PLA will be the same ol' same ol'. I think Game Freak will see PLA's success and make some long overdue changes. Not because they care about quality, but because they can follow the money.

This is how I've felt for a long time, GF already rakes in cash off of the brand name alone, so they didn't have to try in the past, but a Pokemon game that's actually GOOD past just being carried by the brand name would sell obscene numbers, its insane that it took 3 dogshit switch games for them to figure out that they'd match fucking Animal Crossing numbers if they put in even a little effort. Watch PLA smash BDSP and SWSH records without needing to two the two versions shit to squeeze more sales out of paypigs.
