I like em for on the go and they worked well for gameboy gameplay it added mystery to the linear traversal, but now that we're a console game and things aren't so railroady i'm glad to see overworld pokemon.

S. Just hoping they also took a note from Legends and kept the option between throwing balls at something or just battling and catching it the old fashioned way. Like, seriously. I'm genuinely expecting that we'll revert to the old method of

Yes, they are. I enjoyed rolling for monsters in patches of grass in a kid and I enjoy it now. Things don’t become magically unfun because YouTubers and normalfags dislike it.

Overworld encounters are still randomly generated. The only difference is that you don't have to waste time running around and waiting for a battle just to see if it's the Pokemon you want to catch/battle. Overworld encounters are objectively superior to random encounters, to the point where there is zero reason to include them now.

Random encounters require zero skill or strategy, all it does is waste the player's time. In this case streamlining most definitely is beneficial.

I can tolerate not letting you throw Pokeballs to catch Pokemon without a battle, but I will be really annoyed if wild battles don't seamlessly take place in the overworld without a transition. Legends is the only game where I actually bothered battling Pokemon since it's not a chore.
