when i played pokemon omega ruby for the
first time i picked treecko. however i was so
shit at pokemon at the time that he kept fainting
so i ended up boxing him and getting a mudkip
from the GTS. fast foward to the water gym and
i decide to bring him back. my dumbass didn't realise that a level 12 treecko couldn't deafet a level 46 milotic and i was so upset that i somehow traded him away for a fully evolved sceptile. Fast foward again when i defet steven and the credits stat to roll and i see the first battle i had with a poochyena and my treecko and i felt so bad that i traded him away i cried. That the day my family found out i was retarded.

That depends. If you're an over-sentimental Hoenn baby, it's the best 'mon ever because it was one of your first. Or maybe you're a pervert that really likes their exotic anatomy. Other than that, it was seen as a less cool than Grovyle, specially after the anime and PMD2, and it's certainly the worst of the Gen 3 starters in the game. If you're wondering if Game Freak considers it popular... then you're retarded. They have a very obvious preference for Blaziken.

Not him but I remember when I was a kid people did actually prefer Grovyle, I think because Sceptile's sprite wasn't as good. Though I don't think it holds true today, it seems now the only ones who prefer Grovyle are PMD fans.

That's my case. Sceptile looked like complete shit in the RSE sprites, both front and back. And I thought it was pretty lame to see this ninja-assassin velociraptor or sorts evolve into a clunky fat lizard.
As the time passed and he got better sprites and models, I started to like him more, but I still prefer Grovyle.

Also, here's a trivia: In the Explorers games, the story Grovyle is the only normal colored Grovyle in the game. Any other Treecko, be it you, your partner or a wild one, will evolve into a shiny Grovyle, and wild Grovyle are also shiny.
