Rillaboom and serperior are both so bland it’s just a question of whether u like snakes or monkeys more. Emboar and cinderace both aren’t that good but emboar doesn’t look like a 10 yr old. Samurott and inteleon are both cool but suffer from being too odd. Samurott is really aquatic in a series that mostly takes place on land and inteleon is so thin the animators have a hard time making it look proper and people get turned off because they think monster=big. I say galar is worse

Gen 5. Gen 8 is intentionally made to resemble humanoids and I would say it succeeds in creating "characters", so it's not a failure. Gen 5 fails at being monsters that you want to train and are eyesores.
