When did Pokemania end in your country? In mine Gen 3 was arguably the peak of Pokemania and it ended around the time Gen 4 came out. Wondering if any anons had similar experiences.

In my country(or at least where I lived) liking Pokemon was always kinda looked down upon.
I remember when I was in kindergarden there was a kid whose bag had the Kanto starters and many people laughed at him.
But Go became and remained kinda successful now that I think of it

I'll also add that while it wasn't another pokemania, there was another brief resurgence for my peers during the early 2010s. It was when we were all becoming adults and starting college. Half the people were playing the current DS games, the other half bought used copies of FRLG so they could "relive their childhood". This was a few years before Pokemon Go's craze, and it seemed to only last freshman year. But it was surprising to me, as I had been ridiculed for playing Pokemon for the past ten years by these same people

Yuropean here, that was the case here too. It started dwindling around mid GSC, by Gen 3 it was already completely dead and it was social suicide to like it. Sales dropped significantly for Gen 3 which is evidence of that.

Auslad too. Digimon became the thing around the time Crystal came out. I still played Ruby/Sapphire but didn't bother with FRLG.

However, Pokemon Go probably gave the biggest nostalgia rush to everyone.

Though, I'd argue Pokemon is Simpsons tier on how it's received in Australia (i.e. Well loved, but mainly for the first few gens).

It never really died or was a laughed at thing here. It did die in hype around gen 3 but was remembered fondly by many being a fun child's thing back in1999-2005. then GO came out and everyone and their mothers rediscovered that child like flame or discovered it for the first time, newer and older generations. Has not really died down since. Most older people stick to GO by anyone 30 and under have branched out to pokemon medias. I was sadly one of those who stopped playing during gen 3 and only came back at gen 7, but have been catching up realizing all that I missed.

It completely ended during the late gen 3 days with the release of Emerald, most of the people i knew back then played the first 3 gens and stopped with either R/S or FR/LG. When all the cool guys stopped caring about it Pokemon was treated as something that has never been good and a thing of the past.

Pokemania started in gen 2 thanks to lugia's movie and this was around 2003 and 2004 when it was gen 3 already
after that it sustained itself with the card games.
it had a resurgance with heart gold, soul sliver since the ones who played Gold and Silver already has nostalgia money.

then after that the pokemon are for lame socially inept babies happened and every other games was in 3D and everyone move to minecraft this was around 2009-2010
