The Cyndaquil, OShawott, and Rowlet haven't been marketed as a trio so TPC still considered them primarily Johto, Unova, and Alola starters respectively. So it wouldn't make since for the original trios to be broken up.
However, Game Freak has gone out of their way they they actively dislike or just don't give a shit about Johto, so I wouldn't be surprised if Meganium, and Feraligatr never appear in another main series game again since they're too "bland" for zoomers.
