the RNG in terms of accuracy, and more impoertantly than that, secondary effects and status afflictions crits etc are mechanics that keep the game from being repetitive and keep it replayable, and make battling thrilling instead of a calculated spreadsheet simulator that always goes exactly the way your nerdvirgin ass calculated it to go. doesnt even remotely make for anything skillbased or competitive tho. i dont even care about move accuracy and secondary/status effects, even if it was a stamina system instead of accuracy it wouldnt change that fundamentally your match would still be decided by arbitrary shit like match-up luck, where you can start out simply weak to a mon and forced to switch and lose turns or simply the fact that you have a limited attacking movepool in your team and just by dumb luck the enemy might just so happen to have a team that resists most of your setups and has movepools or switches which you simply cant do shit against but suck dick.
