The franchise went in the toilet upon the release of Sinnoh. The anime went downhill massively. The magic will never be recaptured, and it’s the same with childhood games like YuGiOh too. The golden age ended in 2004 for almost all media. These kids don’t actually play Pokémon, they play Minecraft and Fortnite, and beg their mommy to buy them Pokémon cards which they don’t know how to use or play with. Pokémon is a game designed for children but played by adults. Why do you think Pokémon games are just a string of calculations now where everyone uses *optimal* pokes? It is cringey when a child “recognises” a Pokémon, especially a modern one, because they know nothing about the roots of the game, know nothing of the crowds hugging each other, high-fiving and hooking up Link Cables, know nothing of the broship that came with the golden age. When Pokémon Go came out, you didn’t see little kids walking around towns and cities capturing their favourite ORIGINAL pokes, it was 18-24s who remember the joy that original pokemon gave them. What happened after they added Sinnoh pokes? The game went into the toilet and now nobody plays it anymore.
Nu-“fans” are LARPers, and anyone who agrees with them are also LARPers.
YWNBARPF (You will NEVER be a real Pokémon fan).
