Holy fuck, I hate how this thing turned out. The only part I really like is how it ties into outdated plant classifications, but that doesn't change the design itself. It just feels naked, for lack of better word. The legs in particular look awful, and I hate its shoes. Worst part is that it could actually be pretty decent in my eyes with a few small changes, but as-is it's easily among my least favorite designs in the series now.

The stripes are a replacement for scars which are a big no-no for Pokemon to show but are incredibly common for sharks to have. It'd make sense an aggressive shark Pokemon would get more scars. The only weird bit is the chin strap there.

The spikes are more teeth because it adds traits of a sawtooth shark, which is also why the nose itself gets longer. They're just retractable as they animations clearly show, but they're a big and important so the default art shows it off. The progression is entirely logical, you just don't like it.

I think it's good thing. GF gets to experiment with weird designs, and Pokemon "design fundamentalists" are more willing to accept them because they stay in their own little category with a reasonable lore reason to exist. I think it's a decent little compromise considering I love the lore behind them but hate most of their designs.

Being able to make designs unbound by pokemon creature rules led to fantastic results. I think making many more UBs would dilute the identity of Pokemon but 1 or 2 per region would be cool as long as the designs are good. Eternatus looks like a leftover UB.
