As someone who replayed gen 2 for the first time since GBC release earlier this year.

Gen 2 is a huge step up from Gen 1, BUT it's is really wonky on the levels once you get to Kanto. All they had to do was make wild pokemon around the Kanto level 35+, that should be the lowest level you find in Kanto.

Gen 2 is the gen that ensured Pokemon would be a forever franchise, but I would not say it's the best game.

No it didn't the hype would have died down anyone because that's how fads work. Pokemonia was starting to die off before GSC even reached the west. The fact the GSC were as acclaimed as they were proved that the franchise could full a fanbase outside the Pokemania fad and that the franchise was worth continuing.

That way his team is still Self-Destruct/Explosion focused but a bit more varied, plus it would carry over that weird tile floor puzzle in the hideout with the Voltorbs, Koffings & Geodudes (no point including Voltorb & Electrode since the hideout pretty extensively featured them).

Most of the new pokemon are some combination of hard to find and unusable. I remember so many kids tried to make Dunsparce into super cool hidden gems as the struggled to cope with the fact they wasted a ton of time finding, catching and training it.

Also babies are all garbage. Every single one took more from its family than an actual evolution would have.
