In my headcanon, Pokemon aren't necessarily dumber than humans, but they rely extremely on intuition rather than thought. This is why Gengar can so easily rally up a lynch mob, and also why all of the bosses refuse to listen to reason. Society doesn't degenerate into Twitter because Pokemon are good-natured.

I opened my Gates save file to check, but I can't find where it tells you the gender. Do Pokemon in Gates even have genders?

Also as a side note, Gates and Super partners have different behaviors when you run fast enough to get separated from them in the overworld.

In one of the runs I had in PMD: Explorers of Sky, by the time I reached Dialga, I kept losing; Dialga kept spamming that god damn one-shot attack to shred through all of my reviver seeds.
Had to replay the WHOLE game just to ensure that I had more than 4 reviver seeds when I reached them. Won after that point.
Fun game-- better than the OG, in terms of pure gameplay mechanics.

Why didn't you just leave temporal tower to get more seeds? Failing that, why didn't you just stun seed/violent seed yourself to get stronger?

You'd be surprised at all the things you can do in PMD that end up making the game a whole lot harder, like never using debuff seeds or taking bad starter duos. I'd bet that anybody that took Phanpy/Eevee duo in Sky their first time probably has a far lower opinion on the game than anybody else, for example.

I'm surprised that Sky gets all the romhacks. Yes, it is regarded as the best of the series, but it isn't the one with the most replayability, especially when you have to go through 3 minigames of Pokemon feet searching and getting duped in Apple Woods every time. Also Explorers is the only one with inventory limits and that is fucked.

Just give me Rescue with updated QoL features and also crossgen evos without the artstyle change like >>51148228.

the only reasons i wouldn't gut this is because the first one gives good rewards and i dont think it's worth the amount of work it'd take to chance those other 2 days over to normal missions. It's dumb but it's only a minute of your time, at least.

I actually tried boosting the max storage to over 1000. It utterly breaks the Search function in a way that locks the game up if you so much as hit X. Something about there being 1000 blocks in the savefile itself that keeps track of it. Dunno how hard it'd be to edit that.

Because Sky is the only one that actually has romhacking tools available.
And it still took nearly 15 fucking years to get there.
There are still parts of the game that haven't been fully reverse engineered because of how different it is from other DS games internally.

Run Away, Gluttony, Truant, Slow Start, Stall, I think that's about it. Illuminate on an enemy Pokemon is actually useful for exp hunting, so I would want that still in somewhere. Evasion abilities like Sand Veil are personally a pain in the ass to deal with. Missing a Sandslash 3 times in a row in Quicksand Desert feels like a kick to your dick. Too bad other sand abilities like Sand Rush and Sand Force were added in gen 5, so I don't know what a good replacement would be.

Maybe every day they could pick from a pool of some randomly generated prompts, like there could be a 0.5% chance of your partner saying, "Hey, we haven't talked with x in a while. Grovyle is at the head of a overstretched guild of self-assigned protectors of the world defending magical shit like time gears, Tree of life ect, ect. Throw in some extra shit like the North Pole having the world axel from rumble blast.

Time for a shitty PMD grentext story of my first time playing EoS:

Anyways, feel free to laugh all you want since I couldn't even understand how a PMD game worked and took the easy way out.

Not that other anon, but Archive of Our Own (AO3) has been gaining popularity over the last few years, and it’s what a lot of people default to now. Speaking of old fics though, did anyone here ever read a fic called Silver Resistance? I was mostly caught up around early 2013 before getting distracted with another fandom and never went back to it. But it started in 2008 and is still getting updates today, at almost a million words.

Why did this graphic style age so well? I don't want to sound like a typical nostalgia fag, but it does carry a certain charm that 3D doesn't, right? It's one of my fears for a PMD:EoS remake, that the 3D won't capture the same charm it had. I look at the pixel art from the original Red Rescue team and I'm instantly transported to back when I was a kid, it's just a powerful feeling. Looking at the switch remake, it just doesn't do it.

Wasn't it stated in one of the games that the reason the Pokemon you encounter in Mystery Dungeons don't talk and are hostile because they've gone insane from getting lost and wandering around the ever-changing dungeon interiors for an unknown amount of time? - Recruit every Pokemon including gender differences and raise all of them to Lv100 with max stats, max IQ, and optimal movesets (excluding Ginseng)
- Deposit 9,999,999 Poke at Duskull Bank
- No use of password generators at all
- Complete the Adventure Log, including:
- 488/491 kinds of Pokemon battled*
- 469/470 kinds of Moves learned**
- ???/??? kinds of Items acquired

Pretty much the only real way i know of is to get a Skitty/Squirtle duo (fastest starter combo), recruit a Wooper or something earlygame, use him whenever possible, and then spend a few hours to beat the game followed by dumping the duo. That's what I did, at least.

There is, but I don't know if it's been ironed out yet. The vanilla game locks up if it needs to show a certain animation that nonstarters don't have i think.. Later games use placeholder animations so this doesn't happen.
There might be a way now, but i havent ran through vanilla RT in years.

Or not exist at all. After all, Ninetales is pretty much immortal, and Gengar is just a ghost. Ninetales is probably thousands of years old, and Gengar is just an eidolon of a literate, scientific age. The Pokémon of PMD have acute and intricate tool use, the written word, literature, craftsmanship, language, etc. They just replaced us, but they haven't reached an industrial age. (Not that Pokémon need to reach that.)

There straight up isn't enough space in explorers of sky for all the Pokemon + gender differences, only the former with any forms the Pokemon has (like burmy/wormadam etc). Even with the ones that actually have visible differences (it's not all the ones in gen 4, only a small amount) you still can't have them all, the amount of slots leftover just isn't enough. I tried this myself and realized I ended up having to pick my favorites or just dump it altogether

There's 492 Pokemon in explorers of sky (491 in T/D). Then there's the extra forms for unown (27), plus 2 burmy and wormadam, and one extra shellos/gastrodon, that makes 526 (525 for T/D). There are 552 slots in all in both games, and there are 53 gender differences beyond that point (526 all Pokemon + forms) for all Pokemon in Explorers. It's impossible to fit them all unless you decide to exclude forms and just go for gender differences, in which case, if you JUST did 1 of each Pokemon + gender differences, you would end up at 545 Pokemon.

I helped write some of their story in the first month and from the few threads I skimmed now and then afterwards I literally had no idea what the fuck I was reading. It just didn't even remotely resemble the lore or planned plot they talked about in the beginning. When I saw some of the things I suggested getting used later on, they were tied into these weird plot elements that made them basically unrecognizable from the original suggestion - like I originally suggested a Time Gear Klinklang miniboss for Temporal Tower but it ended up getting used in the Sea of Time and was the spirit of the leader of the original human resistance (?) and only one player had any context to who the fuck he was because he had important plot stuff written into his backstory and since his character was always keeping secrets from the other guildmembers they just straight up don't get context for that shit half the time.
I noticed a few posts over the months from people in threads like this one who said they left the group because they couldn't keep up with shit anymore, I recognized a few names too. Every thread I skimmed I saw the amount of participants decrease and I only saw new names join, like, three times? And I'm pretty sure one of those three was the dude who originally got to play a legendary having to replace his character.
The fuck happened? Did the server owner start changing things because of his idea that we needed a plot reason why the real world christian god wouldn't interfere with Dialga pulling humans from the real world? He actually brought that up unironically while we were planning plot stuff, he should've just let the other DM write everything without interference since they seemed to run all the sessions anyway. That group was a mismanaged clusterfuck when I left and I doubt it ever got better.

The way the original is built, exploration is more of a one-man deal since it's way too cumbersome to get a team of 3 each time. There's a lot of Gummi grinding to power up that one guy and once you're good to go, you can A attack everything. The music's still good and the pixel art is timeless.
The remake gets rid of IQ, now Gummis give a random chance of granting a random skill that affects everybody on the team, pokemon can only have 1 of these at a time. It adds the crossgen evos and the Dojo is better for grinding in. Artstyle's a mixed bag for a lot of people but I think it's perfectly fine.

There's more to talk about but to me it all boils down to "do you want to have a team, or one ultra-powerful pokemon that's impossible to kill?" For replays I'd go RTDX since i've ran through the original so much already.

RT is a bit unstable, touching anything often causes a freeze/crash. Example: Explorers/Sky without hacks can handle a mon without the proper animations in a cutscene. RT on the other hand crashes if a portrait or animation is missing for a cutscene. RT is just kinda built different
