For example why the fuck was there a Corvisquire in Petalburg Woods? It's like he just decided part way through that he didn't want to be restricted to just the Hoenn Pokedex. That would be fine if he made it clear in the previous chapters that the Pokemon distribution and timeline wouldn't be 1-1 with the games or anime, but him just shoving this sort of thing in out of nowhere with no warning makes it seem like blatant wish fulfillment.
The same thing happened with the introduction of Zinnia. Up until that point it seemed as if the world was just a combo of Emerald and the Hoenn anime, but then Zinnia is in fucking Oldale Town out of nowhere, as if he just couldn't wait until an appropriate time in the story to introduce her. And then, just to give him an excuse for having her join the story long term, the main character catches a sudden case of 'accidentally saying the things I'm thinking out loud without realizing it' disease, while thinking about things that Zinnia knows he shouldn't know, while she's right in front of him.
It feels like he hasn't actually made a decisive choice about what is and isn't canon in his world, and instead just adds in whatever he wants whenever he wants it and handwaves a justification.
