I just love the Genwunner revisionism. Pokemon these days are too overdesigned, Kanto's designs are simple and easy to understand. Oh, actually, Johto's designs are too simple, Kanto's designs are really cool and complex. Johto is bad because it's got rounded, simple designs, but please don't talk about Pokemon like Oddish or Dratini or Magnemite or Ditto or the multiple fucking Pokemon that are just balls with faces on them.
This dipshit argument also totally ignore the multiple complicated designs that came out of Gen 2 like Skarmory, T-Tar, all the beasts, etc. Sugi likely said Gen 2 had kiddy designs because it was literally the generation that introduced baby Pokemon, dumbfuck. This isn't even getting into how stupid it sounds to say there's some internal hate train against Gen 2, you people are literally trying to project genwars onto a company off of a near 20 year old interview.
