My pink friend. I don't even remember what compelled me to pick up a Clefairy when I first played Red but I found it adorable and I really love how it's themed around both the moon and fairies. Clefable turned out to be such a great Pokémon too, and has only got better with time. There was something satisfying about a Pokémon so cute and pink but also genuinely substantial both thematically and mechanically.

Rayquaza is my favorite, and it's because of pic related. He descends from the sky like god himself, to tell these other two godly beings to shut the fuck up and go to sleep. Then they obey. It was kino, and I don't think any other legendary mon had a moment that was quite as great. My non-legendary favorite is Sceptile.

Although not exactly the most exclusive pick I've never found a pokemon that I love more then the Aura doggo.
I'm not a coomer I have an actual story though. Back in DP when I was a kid I really struggled on Cynthia and lost to her like 4 times, mostly because I was under leveled and also like 10 years old.
I got her garchomp easy but her roserade kept fucking me up over and over and ate all my revives, potions and money replacing them for the next run.
I sort of had a fuck it moment and just went in with my team and like 4 revives, and managed to get Cythia's Roserade again, which my level 47 Lucario tanked a hit from and proceeded to knock out as my last Pokémon for the win.
I loved it before, but it's just been my favorite in any game I've had it since then.
In retrospect I probably switched it in on a turn where roserade used sludge bomb or something, but still, if it wasn't for Lucario I probably would have quit the game and never gotten into the franchise.

Because he was the first favorite that I made, and I'm afraid if I change my favorite or open myself up to changing my favorite pokemon, then I'll lose a small piece of my identity. Because that's all favorites are. They are external representations of yourself in lieu of an actual identity, when you're trying to find yourself by latching onto things that you like, claiming them as yours. As a child develops into an adult, they come to terms with the fact that the the things they like don't define them, and their identity is separate from a concept such as 'favorites'. I'm afraid of change, and of changing, because I don't know what I'll change into, or wether I'd like it.
So I like Umbreon.

Grengar because he's my favorite type (ghost), I really like the purple evil grin aesthetic, he's got a stat spread and movepool I like, and his mega is really cool. Bonus les being he's extremely iconic and he's in almost every game in some way

His color scheme and build is slick as all hell, reminds me of an Italian sports car. Great mon in game if you can manage to get him, good in comp and manages to be relevant without ascending to shillmon status.

I'm personally a big fan of the Galarian Zigzagoon line because they take the concept of Zigzagoon and kinda turn them into assholes. Original and Galarian Zigzagoon have two very distinct personalities that make it hard to say one is better than the other and that's why I like them. Not many regional forms do that.

The Mudkip line.
Back when I started pokemon, I picked the funny water mon because Water Gun sounds cool. But as I got older, I realize how much power he actually got. Water Gun, Take Down, Mud Shot, Muddy Water, Endeavor, Protect, FUCKING EARTHQUAKE! Mudkip was just a silly boy I got because it looked funny to me, even before the memes, but to follow h and watch him grow into a beast that trashed Anabel's superior choices, by himself I might add, it made me part of the Swampert supremacy.
Rule long and well, my Water Ground god, protector, and above all else, my best friend.
