What's your favorite ability? What's your least favorite ability? What are some new abilities you'd like to see? I adore quick draw because every time I get an undeserved victory from RNG I feel an unparalleled rush of dopamine I can only assume is equivalent to winning the lottery

Regenerator for both. On offensive Pokémon like Mienshao, Tornadus and even offensive Slowbros it#s really fun, while on Pokémon like Pex, Alomomola and defensive Slowbros it is incredibly lame.

No guard. I like not missing, and I like the tradeoff, feels balanced enough.

Of the classic batch, insomnia. Always felt wasted on mons that couldn't do anything with the sleep immunity, and the tradeoff of being unable to use rest fucks it up completely.

Of the newer batches, hunger switch. I don't get the point of wasting an entire ability on just switching the type of a move every other turn. The form change is merely aesthetic so even that could have been handled differently.

Yeah it's pretty boring but I like that's it's ok the starter pokemon because the idea of your ace coming in clutch at low health is pretty cool

same guy here, magnet pull is also a contender for my least favorite. at least arena trap is mostly on ground types which I can just unga bunga. steel types are generally extremely defensive, resist way too much, and don't have a lot of coverage to deal with other steel types, so running into something with Magnet Pull means spending the next 20 turns chipping away at your opponent.

Hard to pick one because there are a bunch I really like, but I'll go with Trace. It's got the same sort of appeal as Metronome to me where you never really know what you're going to get, and a lot of abilities are really fun on pokemon that they're not designed to be on.

I'd like to see a pokemon with a battlewide Pain Split upon switching in. I think it'd be really fun to work around.

Not strictly a new ability, but, although I'm pretty tired with shoehorning regional gimmicks for every generation, it'd be cool to see something where you can apply 2 abilities at once, sort of like in PMD
Imagine all the insane combos you'd get with that: Technician + Skill Link multi-hits, Analytic + Stall, Rough Skin + Gooey, Hustle + Guts paired with Choice Band, so on and so forth. Sure, in practice it'd be probably just as or even more broken than Dynamax, but in an actually fun and entertaining way

definitely more of the terrain setter abilities but for every type. Feels really stupid those don't exist. Also an intimidate version for SpAtk would be funny

They can be useful through various strats such as Substitute(costs quarter of your HP), a Focus Sash user, or Endure. Not one of the best abilities but certainly not the worst

It's too easy to say the starter abilities so I'll say shit like Iron fist/strong jaw where the user doesn't have access to more than like 5 of the biting/punching moves. They should have given Infernape sheer force instead of Iron Fist.

When this pokemon switches in with 1 or more pokemon sharing the users typing, they all get a boost to their highest stat (idk if it should stack or not. U guys tell me)

Former is a worse Hydration and needs an overhaul (make it work exactly like Hydration and also boost Grass moves) and latter has no reason not to be Flash as an ability

I had an idea for an ability "Reality" where first normal moves can effect ghost pokemon like Scrappy but normal moves also do SE damage to fairy, dragon, and ghost types

A gravity ability or wonder room ability would be amazing, but a trick room one would be disgustingly busted. In VGC those who control speed control the game, it's the one thing you really need to win. Having to invest at least one turn for speed control is necessary balance, if a pokemon could bypass that turn every single team would need it.

Technician. I love the idea of using boosted versions of minor moves, although I wish there were more viable users of it, special attackers in particular. Thank god for Scizor.

Defeatist.
Archeops is strong but due to its typing and defenses it can't really take a hit, and the bad precision of its moves means that it likely will.
Defeatist nerfs a pokemon that already had many drawbacks to begin with, there's no reason why Archeops shouldn't get a real ability.

Least favorite are the completely useless in battle ones, illuminate could at least improve your accuracy like compound eyes (or lower accuracy by one stage when you enter the battle like using flash, but this would probably be broken or just annoying), run away could function like a shed shell too instead of just a smoke ball

I think having to rely on miss slide and stone miss for STAB while having no brave bird, no bulk and weaknesses to all the most common types is a good enough trade for high attack and speed.
Even with a decent ability it would never be as good as something like Darmanitan.

Maybe for Pokémon like Aerodactyl and Archeops but the majority of Rock-type Pokémon are slow with some like Aurorus sadly being more unfortunate than others.

Surely Rock can get a meaningful buff in some way right?

I just think for the abilities of your first ever Pokemon on any given adventure, these really ought to be a bit more exciting.
They really should have a visual indicator to show when they're in effect. It doesn't need to be a message that pops up, but rather something a bit more subtle.
For an example, having embers rise up in the air around your fire starter when blaze is active, or grass sprout beneath an overgrow user's feet.

Ghost type Aerilate
Reverse Prankster that causes all status moves used by any Pokemon in combat to have -1 priority.

I give Blaze and stuff a pass because they aren't abilities made for us they're abilities made for a stupid kid that doesn't know what an ability is and is confused why Litleo isn't doing any damage with fire fang. Blaze, overgrow, and torrent were made so children can spam flamethrower as an effective strategy

This is a bit much and encourages obnoxious tactics, but something that makes rooms/gravity last some extra turns would be great, especially for singles

It's retarded independently from what year it is.
Slaking has the same HP stat as Giratina, the same attack as mega Blaziken, respectable speed that lets it dominate pokemon such as Urshifu, a STAB that can destroy anything that doesn't resist it, coverage that wrecks anything that resists it, slack off in the rare case something dents your massive HP stat, great support moves and even priority in the form of sucker punch. Without Truant nothing in OU could beat it.

There is not a single pokemon in OU that doesn't get killed in AT LEAST two hits by Slaking.
Max HP max Def Slowbro gets decimated by sucker punch. Max HP max Def Toxapex dies in two earthquakes. Urshifu gets outsped and oblitared by STAB. Ferrothorn dies in two uninvested flamethrowers or one uninvested fire blast. Skarmory and Corviknight both die with two uninvested fire blasts. Nothing can beat Slaking in OU, because it has the stats and moves of a high rank uber.
Do you have a single argument for why Slaking with a normal ability would be balanced or you're just going by feelings like a child?
If you don't have an argument to support your claim stop wasting my time.
