Why do you retards think that removing Gen I mons from the Gym leaders is 'fixing' them? Gen II is all about the 251 Pokemon. There are a higher total of Gen I mons and they are as much part of the game as the Gen II mons. All you're doing is trying to retcon the artistic vision of Tajiri. Its not about removing Gen 1 Pokemon, its about adding Gen 2 Pokemon, Every other Gens Pokemon got the main focus in their game, why not Gen 2's. There's no reason for Gen 2 Pokemon not to get more spotlight in a remakes, especially since the Gen1 ones being replaced were idiotic choices in the first place (Pidgey is lame and Bugsy had cocoons ffs)

Also, You ignore the only real issue with the teams is that many of them run the risk of being too strong. The games are intended to be beaten by children and by as wide variety of teams as possible. Though for the most part they did a good job at not going smogon-levels of team building. Though I'd limit items to only the ace mon until rematches. And if the teams are too strong, just buff the starter's movepools a bit to compensate.

The whole reason Gen II mons are not thrown onto every Gym Leader team is that the Pokemon were
A) Gen I and Gen II was not a concept at the time - there were just 100 new Pokemon, and they were no more or less important than the current 151
B) The new Pokemon are supposed to be extremely rare, which explains their absence from Gen I

The whole point of Gen II being a sequel was to keep the story going from Gen I. But sub-80 IQ autists like you are obsessed with all the Gens being separate, and a new batch of mons being introduced and focused on in all the new games. Gen II was not about that.

0 team changes were made between GSC and HGSS, and that's because they got it right the first time.

There's more similar stuff in GSC that's all about the lore and not gameplay. The Kanto leaders, outside of Blue, all suck because they're supposed to be weaker than the Champion and the Elite 4. Janine especially because she's a brand-new Gym Leader.

They might be his Dad's pokemon but that doesn't mean Falkner doesn't have some experience using them. Everyone has to starter somewhere.

good. also i am pretty sure not knowing the identity of the viridian gym leader pertains more to not knowing who exactly the person is. i don't think giovanni is necessarily a well-known as the leader of team rocket, so his absence at the gym and general mystery around who he is lends itself to the guide not really knowing what to think of him. i don't think it's a logical misstep, but they probably should have removed his name from the statues for the player's sake, though.

"Discovered" is simply the in-universe justification for changes. If you use a grass-type move against Magnemite in Gen 1 it takes neutral damage, but it resists in Gen 2. A fair number of moves changed type going between Gen 1 to Gen 2 as well such as Karate Chop and Bite.

Jasmine didn't exist in Gen 1 so her type changing couldn't be as a result of "generational changes".
Its far more likely that she opted to specialize in Steel types after her Onix evolved which is the justification that they used in the manga.
However, all of that is just backstory and the fact of the matter is that at the time of GSC, she specializes in Steel types and hence its not farfetched for her to use Pokemon like the Magnemite line or Skarmory on her team.

If GF truly wanted to show "lore" then her team should have included something else from her old specialization. Breaking type wasn't uncommon back then, looking at Bruno, Agatha, Karen or Lance as obvious examples.

Hell, I just recently played through Blue again. My team was in the low 30's by the time I hit Safari Zone. Catching up to that is not unreasonable.

This is just some numerology type shit. There's logic to it (except for Let's Go, which was obvious an attempt to cash in on Go), and the logic is oldest game that is is either impossible to transfer mons from or is hard to get a hold of. B/W are now $100+ used.

They already show off rare/late game Pokemon with the Gen 1 leaders anyway. Brock's ace can't be caught until after you beat Surge and is a rare encounter in Rock Tunnel.
Starmie is the evolution of a Pokemon that you can't obtain until way way later in the game.

I just remembered this thread and was going to bring that up, but it looks like someone already did. Technically you could skip Lt. Surge and catch Onix with just two badges, but you still need to clear the SS Anne plot section to get Cut. Lt. Surge himself has Pokemon you need to intetionally avoid doing his battle when it is possible since Voltorb is found just before Rock Tunnel and you need to go to Celadon City to get a Thunderstone. Similar case with Erika's Tangela since you could just skip her gym until after Safari Zone and Koga for Surf, but the level curve suggests otherwise. Koga's entire team is species you can't get at the time of fighting him since Grimer and Koffing are both only in the Pokemon Mansion (which is kind of funny since you fight a shitton of those under trainers in general around that time in the game). Sabrina, Blaine, and Giovanni have teams entirely made of Pokemon you have access to by that point.

I wonder if someone broke down an image of what Pokemon are available by certain checkpoints.

If that's the case then the "spoiling" complaint makes even less sense, the Johto games give the player more freedom than any other in the series, as soon as you reach Ecruteak you could probably see 90% of the dex before battling a single gym leader.
